Infinera's XTM Series is CWDM- and DWDM-agnostic.Infinera uses both CWDM and DWDM technologies as a means of transporting different types of services, e.g. Ethernet, Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH)/Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET), and Fibre Channel (FC) in metro networks. A CWDM network can initially be deployed with either product series and when required, the network can be simply upgraded to a hybrid CWDM/DWDM network using common cards and pluggable optics. Therefore, by deploying Infinera's CWDM- or DWDM-based solutions, the lowest possible day one cost is enabled without sacrificing the scalability of the network.
The XTM Series is Infinera's metro packet-optical platform that encompasses Layer 0 WDM and Layer 1 Optical Transport Network (OTN) networking and Layer 2 Ethernet and Layer 2.5 multi-protocol label switching – transport profile (MPLS-TP) networking in one system. This service-rich, multi-speed carrier-class platform provides transport services between 1.5 megabits per second (Mb/s) and 100 gigabits per second (Gb/s) in access, metro and metro core networks. This platform is engineered using 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM)-based 200 gigabits per second (200G) per wavelength technology to drive power consumption down to as low as 20 watts per 100G service within a plug-in card.
With its modular and scalable system of pluggable optics, multiple chassis size options and key characteristics such as low power and high density, it provides efficient delivery of today's and tomorrow’s demanding services in a single platform.
Providing three times the fiber capacity, an eightfold density increaseand industry-leading low power per bit, the Infinera XTM II is a majorenhancement to the XTM Series metro platform. Combining 200Gper wavelength traffic units, a 400G+ per wavelength-ready openline system, enhanced chassis options, Instant Bandwidth and end-to-endXceed SDN control, the XTM II delivers the high capacityand density, low latency, low power consumption and support forhighly dynamic traffic flows required for demanding metro architectures.
All of this is provided in a platform optimized for real-worlddeployment scenarios utilizing existing real estate in space andpowerconstrained environments.
